A place of peace, comfort and calmth. In harmony with the local people, the nature and the Atlantic Ocean. As sustainable as possible. This is Mamiwata Ecovillage.
At the edge of Santo Antão island, high above the ocean. An ecological oasis, growing amidst the arid rocks of Cabo Verde. We built, created and even planted Mamiwata Ecovillage to bring tourism and sustainability into harmony.
Simple things we do.
1) Terraced ground with irrigation, creating a green environment for people, plants and insects. 2) Strongly connected to the local people of Santo Antão and Cabo Verde. Most of our team is local. We invest in education, training and provide safe incomes for the families. 3) Our food comes from local sources, is fresh and specified by the seasons.
4) We strive to live on sustainable energy sources. Years ago, we have built a large solar energy field, from where we receive huge parts of our electricity. We are currently working on a water filtering system. We are trying to reduce trash as much as we can. 5) We do not sell water in plastic bottles, not in the restaurant, nor over the counter.
Fair with our planet and guests.
We invest in our employees and the communities around Mamiwata. We harvest our own food and herbs. We buy from local sources. We minize trash and waster. Our rooms come without air condition. We create tea and drinks from plants from our own garden. We produce our own energy, filter water and offer vegetarian dishes. All in all: We strive to be less invasive, more sustainable and fair. Everyone benefits, including you.

Overlooking Mamiwata Ecovillage you will find our unique Yoga- and Social-Centre. The rounded building sits firmly above the ocean and provides a fresh look and a breeze into the world: a perfect place for corporate events, trainings and lessons, but also home to our yoga sessions or organized yoga-travels from abroad.

We strive to be sustainable, but this does not come at the cost of loosing fun. Mamiwata Ecovillages tries to be an exellent and very stylish hotel, with uniquely designed furniture, an impressive swimming pool overlooking the ocean and a fully serviced bar.
